Hello, it's lovely to meet you

I'm an artist, illustrator, and poet, living and working by the sea in Dorset, UK. My work is deeply rooted in a love for local nature and guided by a gentle, mindful approach to creativity.

With a focus on movement-rich linework and thoughtful words, I create illustrations that seek to soothe, spark curiosity, and connect. Whether I’m designing for print, fabric, packaging, public spaces or private commissions, my aesthetic leans toward monochromatic simplicity, soulfulness, and a quiet kind of beauty.

Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with wonderful clients — from independent makers to well-known brands — creating distinctive visual identities, product ranges, and illustration that resonates.

Alongside commissioned projects, I design a range of gift and homeware under my own name, including a growing range of greeting cards that are stocked by over 300 independent stores around the world.

As a creative mentor, I support fellow artists in nurturing their practice with intention and confidence. I also lead popular mindful drawing workshops and regularly visit colleges and universities to share my process through talks and hands-on sessions.

In 2023, I was honoured to receive funding from Arts Council England for my project Deeply Rooted — a tender weaving of poetry and illustration inspired by mindfulness and a deep reverence for Earth.

When I'm not drawing, you'll likely find me birdwatching at a local reserve, swimming in the sea, or curled up with a good book in a quiet corner of my home.

Frequently asked questions

What is your process?

I primarily draw digitally to create my illustrations. Earlier in my career I focussed entirely on traditional printmaking, by creating either lino or wood cut block printed pieces. These days I've reignited my love for drawing and combined it with the dynamic opportunities of digital art. My style is a contemporary blend of my printmaking roots with my love for a flowing hand-drawn pencil line.

Can I commission you?

Yes, absolutely! I'd love to hear about your idea for a project, whether you're a business, brand, agency or individual. I take on a wide spectrum of commissioned projects and am always interested in hearing about new opportunities. Either use my contact form or email contact@laurenmarina.com

Do you offer workshops?

I offer some different workshop options. I regularly offer guest lectures at universities and colleges to talk about my creative career and to host portfolio crits.

Alongside my educational work I also offer drawing workshops rooted in mindfulness and wellbeing. These are offered publicly and you can find out more about when and where they are being hosted via my social media pages. You can also book me to offer a mindful drawing workshop at your venue or event, at your place of work for your team or in your school, college or university. Please use the contact page or email me contact@laurenmarina.com to request a workshop.

Can you tattoo me?

Yes! I offer hand poke tattoo designs from a shared tattoo studio in Bournemouth, UK. These designs are from my own illustrated flash sheets and appointments are limited. Follow my tattoo work on Instagram at @laurenmarinatattoo or find my booking form here.
