Hello, it's lovely to meet you
Lauren Marina is an acclaimed British artist, illustrator, print designer and poet.
Her fond focus on nature, paired with a dynamic visual style has found large audiences in public spaces and private exhibitions alike. Lauren is frequently commissioned to create illustration work in her distinctive aesthetic, counting many notable brands among her clients.
Lauren’s contemporary aesthetic appeals to a wide range of commercial commissioners and agencies, and she typically works on illustrative branding and identity projects and surface design for products and fabrics.
Lauren also creates a range of home and gift products under her own brand name. She is a publisher of thoughtful greeting cards, which are well loved with customers and independent stores around the world.
Beyond her art, Lauren works as a creative mentor, supporting fellow artists in developing their practice. She also regularly visits colleges and universities to offer guest lectures and workshops for students.
Lauren also leads her popular drawing workshops, introducing others to her mindful and meditative approach to illustration.
When she’s not working you’ll find Lauren bird-watching at her local nature reserve, swimming in the sea or reading quietly in her Poole home.
In 2023, Lauren was recognised by Arts Council England and awarded funding for her upcoming project Deeply Rooted; an exploration of poetry and illustration through the lens of mindfulness and appreciation for Earth.
Lauren lives and works by the sea in Poole, Dorset, UK.
Frequently asked questions
What is your process?
I primarily draw digitally to create my illustrations. Earlier in my career I focussed entirely on traditional printmaking, by creating either lino or wood cut block printed pieces. These days I've reignited my love for drawing and combined it with the dynamic opportunities of digital art. My style is a contemporary blend of my printmaking roots with my love for a flowing hand-drawn pencil line.
Can I commission you?
Yes, absolutely! I'd love to hear about your idea for a project, whether you're a business, brand, agency or individual. I take on a wide spectrum of commissioned projects and am always interested in hearing about new opportunities. Either use my contact form or email contact@laurenmarina.com
Do you offer workshops?
I offer some different workshop options. I regularly offer guest lectures at universities and colleges to talk about my creative career and to host portfolio crits.
Alongside my educational work I also offer drawing workshops rooted in mindfulness and wellbeing. These are offered publicly and you can find out more about when and where they are being hosted via my social media pages. You can also book me to offer a mindful drawing workshop at your venue or event, at your place of work for your team or in your school, college or university. Please use the contact page or email me contact@laurenmarina.com to request a workshop.
Can you tattoo me?
Yes! I offer hand poke tattoo designs from a shared tattoo studio in Bournemouth, UK. These designs are from my own illustrated flash sheets and appointments are limited. Follow my tattoo work on Instagram at @laurenmarinatattoo or find my booking form here.
